Ford’s first fully electric SUV is out. The Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV shares its name with the hallowed coupe and many more. There are also a few design cues that embody the Mustang’s flank lines. If you take a deeper look, then the entire design language seems more coupe-ish than SUV. The Ford Mustang Mach-E gets a grille that is closed, sleek full-LED headlamps, muscular front bumpers, flared wheel arches and a stylish rear. The tail lights will remind you of the Mustang fastback and needless to say, they are muscular as well.
Okay, enough of design, tell me more about the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV?
The Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV has an interior that harks back to the company’s association with Volvo. Taking centre stage is the huge 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This one obviously comes with all the bells and whistles. OTA updates are possible with the SYNC 4 operating system. The doors have small buttons that pop open while like the Skoda Kodiaq, there are rubber beadings that prevent scuffs in a parking lot. A cool factor is that one can even gain access by putting in a code on the digital pad on the B-pillar. The instrument console itself is a 10.2-inch digital screen.
There are two battery packs on offer – 75kWh and 99kWh. Both these power packs are a bit varied and the latter has more battery cells. 258PS is generated from the smaller battery pack while the larger one pushes out close to 300PS. The torque of 416Nm stays the same while range wise, the 75kWh provides 450km and the other one near about 600km. Ford will also provide a twin motor Mach-E at a later stage. The specifications say that the torque will be 582Nm while the 0-100kmph time will be less than 7.0s. All-wheel drive too is being provided.
The big question. Is the Ford Mustang Mach-E coming to India? Given the situation that Ford India is in currently, we are sure that the learnings will be passed on but the car itself may not come here.
