Just days after the updated Maruti Alto was spotted at a dealer stockyard, the company has officially launched the car. The facelifted Maruti Alto 800 price in India starts from Rs 2.93 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 3.71 lakh, ex-Delhi. Compared to the outgoing car, the new vehicle is costly by around Rs 22,000. For this price hike, there are many more new standard safety features. Let’s see what these are.
New features in the facelifted Maruti Alto 800
First of all, the standard fare. This includes a driver airbag, ABS with EBD, front seat belt reminder, seat belts for all the occupants and rear parking sensors as standard. Moreover, the left side mirror is also standard now. The face has been changed slightly while there are no longer any variant badging on the car. Wheel caps are standard from the second trim onwards. Speaking of which, the facelifted Maruti Alto 800 is available in STD, STD (O), LXi, LXi (O) and VXi. The optional trims bring in a passenger airbag.
Inside, the upholstery sees a dual tone revision. The VXi gets a music system with Bluetooth connectivity. There is also aux-in as well as USB connectivity as well. Maruti also offers front power windows in this trim. More details are available on the website.
Any changes to the engine?
Yes. The new Alto has got a BS-VI compliant 800cc motor. This means this model is here to stay for sometime. There is less of NOx being produced. The fuel efficiency as certified by ARAI is 22.05kmpl and this is less when compared with the older car’s 24.7kmpl. There is no change in the power or torque from this 3-pot motor. For the sake of numbers, the power is 48PS and 69Nm. A 5-speed manual is the lone gearbox option.
