Datsun recently refreshed its Go range of cars. This brought in the much needed excitement in the segment as well as the necessary safety features too. Not only this, Datsun reduced prices by around Rs 5-10,000. However, this time around, the company has introduced a safety feature that is found only on high-end cars – vehicle dynamic control or VDC as it is called. The VDC system monitors wheel speed, steering wheel position, and lateral acceleration via onboard sensors to provide electronic stability control. This makes for a safer as well as more enjoyable driving performance.
There has been no increase in the price though. The Datsun Go price in India starts from Rs 3.32 lakh while the Go+ starts from Rs 3.86 lakh, ex-showroom, pan-India.
Are there any other changes to the Go range apart from addition of vehicle dynamic control?
Yes, a cosmetic change though. You can order both the cars in the Vivid Blue colour option. This was available earlier when the Go was launched, however for the facelift, it was discontinued. Speaking of facelift, the top-spec Go cars have LED DRLs, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, USB ports for charging and more. ABS with EBD, dual airbags and rear parking sensors are standard. A speed limit alarm too has been rolled into this package.
The heart of the matter remains the same and in BS-IV form. Both the cars are powered by a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that has a peak output of 68PS/104Nm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The ARAI rated mileage is 19.83kmpl.
Hardeep Singh Brar, director sales and commercial, Nissan India said, “Datsun is committed to transform customer experience with new and innovative products. Underscoring our focus on progressive mobility backed by safety, technology, style and convenience, the New Datsun GO and GO+ now comes with vehicle dynamic control so that the Datsun owner can drive with confidence.”
