BMW India has been consistently launching new products. Most of them however don’t involve a gala press conference. One such product is the new BMW Z4. The 2019 BMW Z4 price in India starts from Rs 64.90 lakh for the sDrive 20i while the M40i is priced at Rs 78.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Bookings for the model have started while deliveries will be fulfilled within a couple of months. The available colours for the Z4 include Alpine White, Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Mediterranean Blue and San Francisco Red. For customers of the M40i, there are two additional colours – Frozen Grey II and Missano Blue.
What’s new in the BMW Z4?
For starters, its been almost 2-3 years since the Z4 was discontinued in India. The favourite roadster of the celebrities has made a comeback this year. This particular model though debuted globally last year. The long bonnet and the stubby yet elegant boot are all formulae for the Z4 from a long time. One cannot ignore the the diffusor and exhaust tailpipes. The vertically stacked headlights and the wider kidney grille too are arresting elements in the design.
BMW builds driver-oriented cockpits and the new Z4 ain’t any different. In fact, the new Z also offers two different leather adorned upholstery. This two seater offers electric adjustment for the seats along with memory function. The soft top ensures that this convertible never loses out on the oomph factor.
There are two petrol engines on offer in the new BMW Z4. The smaller of the two is the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder unit that pumps out 197PS and 320Nm. BMW claims that this version of the Z4 can race from 0-100kmph in just 6.6s. An 8-speed transmission is common between both the engines. Speaking of which, the more powerful engine is a 6-cylinder unit and displaces 3,000cc. 340 horses and 500Nm of torque are the numbers from this engine. The Z4 in this guise, races to 100kmph from standstill in just 4.5s.
