Whats the deal with the new BMW M2 Competition
The BMW M2 Competition aims to mix everyday useability with track racing spec. A 3-litre 6-cylinder inline petrol motor powers the BMW M2 Competition. This engine produces 410PS of power and 550Nm of torque from its turbocharged heart. A 7-speed dual clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels. BMW claims a 0-100kmph time of 4.2 seconds while the top speed is rated at 250kmph. There are three drive modes on offer – Comfort, Sport and Sport+. For enhanced driving pleasure, the Dynamic Stability Control as well as Active M Differential at the rear axle have been added as well.
To enhance the aural pleasure, the BMW M2 comes with a minimal exhaust back pressure exhaust system. This one ensures that the driver as well as other road users are treated to the sweet sound of engine. BMW says that the car is not only about driving aesthetics but also has efficiency dialled in with the use of lightweight construction, brake energy recuperation, 50:50 weight distribution as well as similar technologies. That being said, fuel economy is rated at 10.63kmpl.
In terms of looks, this is the first time the 2 Series has been introduced in India. The BMW M2 Competition gets a black kidney grille, side gills with the M2 designation, all-LED headlights, two-door coupe format and four exhaust pipes. BMW uses 19-inch alloys with the M2 Competition. Dual zone automatic climate control, sports leather seats and many other goodies are standard. An Apple CarPlay enabled Harman Kardon music system though is optional.
As part of the safety package, BMW offers six airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, DSC, BMW Condition Based services as well as ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
