Did we mention that Suzuki India has been on the forefront of launching new products this year? The brand has now launched the Suzuki Access 125 SE at Rs 61,788, ex-showroom Delhi. The SE stands for Special Edition and comes with a host of new features. Bookings have already started while deliveries will be done in a few days. The Access is as it is, the company’s best selling scooter and one of the top three in the country. It began a fresh lease of life at the 2016 Auto Expo, post which it has been soldiering on with regular updates.
Okay, tell me what’s new in the Suzuki Access 125 SE?
There are new SE graphics, a metallic matte bordeaux colour, black alloy wheels, round chrome mirrors as well as a beige leatherette seat. Suzuki also provides a DC socket for charging mobile phones or GoPros. Rest of the bits are similar to the existing scooter. This includes a long seat, enlarged floorboard, large under-seat storage of 21.7 litres and a convenient front pocket. There is also the semi-digital instrument console. Suzuki also offers the ESS which helps start the scooter with one touch of the button.
The powertrain is made up of a 124c, air-cooled, single cylinder engine that produces 8.7PS of power and 10.2Nm. Suzuki’s SEP technology ensures that the claimed mileage of this BS-IV mill remains close to 60kmpl while riding pleasure too hasn’t been compromised. We’ve experienced this engine in the Burgman Street and found it to be not only peppy but refined and fuel efficient too.
In the wake of competition from the Honda Grazia, the TVS NTorq and Vespas, the Access has still managed to soldier on. Every month, more than 5-7,000 units are sold. The scooter is also exported from here. Suzuki is currently in the process of BS-VI migration. This might see the Access’ engine get a fuel injector in place of the carb currently. Prices too will increase in the process.
