Tell me more about the Benelli Imperiale 400
The Benelli Imperiale 400 is set to take on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 as well as the Jawa. The interesting bit here is that a source says that the Imperiale 400 is way smoother than the aforementioned competition. For the record, the Benelli makes slightly more power from its 373cc, single cylinder heart – 19.8PS and 28Nm. The gearbox is a 5-speed unit. There are disc brakes at both the ends and dual channel ABS too is part of the package. Benelli has given the motorcycle simple cycle parts to keep the costs low. So you will find right side down forks in the front and dual shockers at the rear with a gas canister. The exhaust is on the right hand side. There is also the split seat configuration that will allow both riders their individual seating.
The retro looks will appeal to a wider audience. One which has been fed on a steady diet of REs. Benelli is expected to keep the price below Rs 2 lakh but a source in the know-how tells us that it is going to surprise everyone. Are we looking at a sub-Rs 1.70 lakh range? May be.
