Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec with front disc brake spied testing in India

Bajaj Auto is one master in exploring different body styles with a lone engine option. We have seen them do this with the Pulsars as well as Avengers. Not to mention the smaller Discovers and Platinas. Now, the company is focusing on the latter. A new Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec with a front disc brake has been spied on the highway near Pune. The spied motorcycle wears familiar clothes from the Platina series. However, there are subtle differences too.

Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec

The Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec has a golden colour to the engine case as well as the shock absorbers. As is evident, it also has a front disc brake from the Discover 125. The seat is also nicely padded and has a contrast stitching. The grab handle too is new.

There are also LED blinkers, new graphics, LED DRL on top of the headlight and white alloy wheels. Since this is a new motorcycle, it will also have Combined Braking System. CBS as it is commonly called will apply 40 per cent of the front brake while the rear unit is used. This is the first time that a Bajaj motorcycle will use this technology. For all new motorcycles up to 150cc which have been introduced into the market post April 2018 need to have this tech. From April 2019, it is mandatory that each and every scooter/motorcycle rolling out from the factory has to have CBS. Above 150cc, ABS is mandatory.

Engine of the new Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec

The Platina 125 as we discussed earlier, will have the same 125cc engine from the Discover. We expect it to make 11PS of power and 10Nm of torque. A 5-speed gearbox will be used here though Bajaj, in the interest of cost cutting, could opt for a 4-speeder too. It is likely that this engine could also be an updated one compliant with Euro-VI norms. These new norms will come into effect from 2020 but Bajaj may want a first mover advantage in its segment.
