Bajaj has reinvented their pride and joy, the Chetak, as an electric scooter and have launched it at an interesting price tag starting from Rs 1 lakh, ex-showroom Pune and Bangalore. To be offered in two trims, Urbane and Premium, the Bajaj Chetak is priced at ₹ 1 lakh and ₹ 1.15 lakhs respectively. It will be offered in six hues, two for Urbane and four for Premium.

Bajaj has tested the new Chetak across the country and will be also sold in Europe in due course of time. It gets a solid all-metal body, LED headlamps, a 3kWh motor, 16 Nm of torque, an IP67 rated battery and motor and a range of 85 to 95 kms depending upon the riding style – Eco and Power – you adopt.
The new Bajaj Chetak harks upon its legendary reliability and wishes to continue it with its nation-wide infrastructure of sales and service. The bookings will open at ₹2,000 tomorrow noon in Pune and Bangalore to start with and spreading all over India over a period of time. Bajaj also seeks to reinvent the buying procedure with a one-stop solution and an innovative online process. Bajaj has trained specialists for electric vehicles and also intends to allow even customers to service their own scooters.
Speaking of which, Bajaj says that the first service is at 1,000km while customers can get their vehicle serviced every 12,000km or a year, whichever is earlier. Moreover, there are three free services being offered. Not only this, since there are less moving parts, the maintenance will not be high too when compared to a conventional scooter.
Bajaj has said that they will monitor the sales and on-road reports of the Chetak and improve the product alongside till the market develops in terms of volumes.
