Aprilia India made quite a splash earlier this year when they unveiled the RS 150 and Touno 150 at the Auto Expo 2018. However, the manufacturer did clarify that these products will be launched in India next year. However, we have just got an invite from the company. It says “stylish and high performance new two-wheelers from the stable of Aprilia and Vespa”. A quick check on the company’s website lists the Aprilia Touno 125. There is also the bigger Aprilia SRV 850 ABS ATC listed. We have a strong hunch that these will be the products that will be launched today.
Aprilia Touno 125 specifications
The Aprilia Touno 125 is a naked street motorcycle that has a distinct styling to boast. It obivously is inspired by the bigger 1100cc Touno V4. Giving the Aprilia Touno 125 a credible presence are twin pod headlights, slight extended fairing which blends with the chiseled fuel tank. The latter also has a fake mesh air intake which also hosts the Italian flag colours. The motorcycle looks much bigger than its 125cc will signify. A twisted exhaust outlet too is designed with a style never seen before on an Indian motorcycle.
As far as the technical specifications are concerned, the Aprilia Touno 125 has a single cylinder 125cc engine. This BS-IV fuel injected, liquid cooled motor makes 15PS at 10,500rpm and 11Nm at 8,250rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox, with the Quick Shifter being optional. Aprilia offers front ABS with the 300mm disc. The rear also has a disc brake. USD front forks as well as a monoshock at the rear are offered.
Like the KTM 390 Duke as well as the TVS NTorq 125, the Aprilia Touno 125’s instrument console can be paired with a smartphone. There is also an inbuilt lap timer.
Might not happen
Aprilia may not go the whole length and instead just officially launch the limited edition Vespa Notte. It is your regular Vespa 125 with a black paint scheme that extends even to the mirrors. This cosmetically enhanced edition will be on sale for a few months.
