Maruti Suzuki has launched the all-new Wagon R in India. The all-new Wagon R price in India starts from Rs 4.19 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 5.69 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. While this price is lower than the outgoing car, especially the base price, the presence of a ZXi trim as well as a bigger 1.2-litre petrol engine has shot up the top model’s price. Bookings are already underway while the deliveries start from tomorrow. The new Wagon R goes up against the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro as well as the Datsun Go.

Maruti has built this new Wagon R from scratch. This means a new Heartect platform that makes the car lighter than before. Stability as well as rigidity too has gone up notches. The all-new Wagon R measures 3,655mm x 1,675mm x 1,620mm in length, width and height. One look and you know that while the silhouette hasn’t changed much, the Wagon R decidedly feels fresh. The interior too has been spruced up and bang in the centre, you get an updated 7.0-inch SmartPlay infotainment system. This one hosts Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as gives you access to news and more. The boot space too has increased and is now 341 litres.
Powering the all-new Wagon R are two engine options. One is the familiar 69PS/90Nm 1.0-litre K-series engine while the second one is the 84PS, 1.2-litre motor. Both these petrol-only engines are available with a 5-speed manual or AMT. Maruti says that the 1.0-litre engine will deliver 22.5kmpl while the 1.2-litre will have a mileage of 21.5kmpl, as per ARAI.
Safety is taken care off with a driver airbag, ABS with EBD, speed warning alert, rear parking sensors and front seat belt warning. A passenger airbag as well as tilt adjustable steering too are available on the ZXi.
