The Honda City has been the top dog as far as entry-level C-segment sedans are concerned in India. The Japanese carmaker has struck gold and each generation of the car has been received with welcome arms by the car buying public. Currently, Honda is selling the fourth generation of the Honda City in India. However, the all-new Honda City, the fifth generation model, will be showcased to the world at the end of this year. It is possible that the model will go on sale shortly after its public showcase at the Auto Expo 2020.
All-new Honda City specifics
After the launch of the Ciaz, the City has been facing some heat. To counter this, Honda designers are likely to get some flair in to the structure of the car. More modern gadgets will be added to the interior as well. It is being said that Honda may opt for a mild hybrid system for the all-new Honda City. After all, they do have a version available in the Thai market. Moreover, the petrol 1.5-litre engine could be updated to conform to BS-VI norms as well as could have around 125PS of power. Honda is expected to refine the 1.5-litre diesel as well and give it slightly more power as well. Not only this, the efficiency could also receive a bump.
The all-new Honda City will also get more safety equipment than before. While the current City stacks up well against competition, it is high time that manufacturers introduce more safety kit. Perhaps some radar tech may also make its way here. Not only the City, but the new Jazz is also expected to be showcased later this year and will borrow the same powertrain from the City. This should make it a formidable opponent against the new Baleno as well as the i20.
