4,379 Ford EcoSports recalled in India for fixing potential steering issues

Ford India has recalled certain units of the pre-facelift EcoSport. The potential issue is with the lower control arm in the front and this in turn could affect the steering functionality. 4,379 units of the EcoSport are affected and they have been made between May-June 2017. Separately, Ford is also asking owners of EcoSports whose cars were manufactured between Nov-Dec 2017 to get their vehicle checked for a front and shotgun recliner seat hooks issue. One can check if their vehicle is affected or not by inputting their VIN here.

Whatever the replacement cost will be, it will be borne by Ford India and will not be passed onto the customer. In short, the customer will not have to pay anything. We checked with a source and they confirmed that the part change or inspection will be completed within an hour. Ford will contact the customer and fix an appointment.

Ford recently had a monsoon service camp for their vehicles in India. This included a 50+ point check up of the vehicles plus up to 50 per cent off on the spare parts. Customers had a chance to get extra benefits if their car was five years old or more.

On the launch front, Ford is expected to launch the refreshed versions of the Figo and Aspire. The manufacturer also recently introduced a sunroof with the 2.2l Titanium trim of the Endeavour.
