Bajaj Auto has launched the Dominar 250 in India. The Bajaj Dominar 250 price in India is Rs 1.6 lakh, ex-showroom. Bookings have started while deliveries commence in a week. There are two colour options – Vine Black and Canyon Red. Only a dual channel ABS version is available. The Bajaj Dominar 250 will compete with the BMW G310R and KTM 250 Duke.
What are the special features of the Bajaj Dominar 250?
Bajaj has ensured that the Dominar 250 retains its visual identity. There is no newness from the Dominar 400 and those looking at the bike will relate to the bigger one. There are USD forks, alloy wheels, all-digital instrument cluster, bungee hook straps under the seat and all-LED lights at the front and rear.
Powering the Bajaj Dominar 250 is the same engine from the 250 Duke. However it has been detuned here. The engine is BS6 compliant and makes 27PS of power and 23.5Nm. Bajaj claims a 0-100kmph time of 10.5s 2hile the top speed is 132kmph. The engine has got fuel injection and liquid- cooling. Bajaj has also provided a slipper clutch.
While performance on paper seems okay, the worrying thing is that the Dominar 250 weighs 180kg. This is only 3kg less than the bigger Dominar and way more than the 250 Duke. Bajaj has given a 300mm disc in the front and 230mm unit at the back. The tank capacity is 13 litres. Ground clearance of the bike is 157mm.
Commenting on the Dominar 250 launch, Sarang Kanade, president – motorcycles, Bajaj Auto Ltd. said, “The Dominar brand has been able to create a strong following for itself and has become the preferred choice for long distance tourers. Dominar riders have traversed five continents, conquered the Arctic and Antarctica, journeyed thousands of miles and pushed the Dominar 400 bike to its limits. Dominar 250 will be an ideal bike for aspiring riding enthusiasts who wish to get into the world of touring.”
