2021 Toyota Fortuner launched in India; costlier than Endeavour, Gloster

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner price in India starts from Rs 29.98 lakh and go up to Rs 37.58 lakh, ex-showroom. That’s an increase by Rs 1.3 lakh – Rs 3 lakh than the BS6 model. The Toyota Fortuner facelift is a mid-life botox transformation and it does project the SUV as a more sharp-cut one. Toyota has commenced bookings of the SUV both online as well as offline. Deliveries are being promised by the end of this month.The colour options pretty much remain the same but Toyota has also got in a new Legender variant that promises to take care of the road more than off it. 2021 Toyota Fortuner

The new Fortuner brings along with it LED headlights, DRLs, sequential turn indicators, new bumpers at the front and rear, a new grille, and alloys. The design pretty much is like the older model and can be instantly recognised as a Fortuner’s but more like Lexus worked on it. In the cabin, you have ventilated front seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. 11-speaker JBL music system for 4×4 trims.

2021 Toyota Legender

The engine has also undergone a change. The 2.8-litre diesel motor, in the 2021 Fortuner makes 204PS of power and 420Nm, with the 6-speed manual. With the 6-speed auto, the torque goes to 500Nm. This ensures that the Fortuner’s motor makes the max torque in its class. The 2.7-litre petrol engine is available with a 6-speed auto or 5-speed manual and makes 242Nm. An electronic locking differential is available for the 4-wheel drive variants. There are drive modes in the diesel – Eco, Normal and Sport.

The Toyota Fortuner Legender gets a new face that includes differently styled LED headlamps, bumpers, skid plates and even the alloys. Moreover, customers also get a dual-tone paint scheme with the Legender. However it is available only with a white body paint and black roof. There is also a wireless charger, kick sensor for the boot, USB ports at the rear and ambient lighting. Both the Fortuner and Legender are available with a power boot.

The Toyota Fortuner Legender is available only in a 2-wheel drive configuration and only with the diesel AT. Competition to it comes from the MG Gloster Savvy, and Ford Endeavour Sport. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner competes with the regular models of all these vehicles as well as the Mahindra Alturas G4.
