If you are on the interweb, which we suppose you’re, there are chances that a certain Royal Enfield testing must have popped on your feed. This certain Royal Enfield has now been launched. It is called the Meteor. The 2021 Royal Enfield Meteor price in India starts from Rs 1.76 lakh and goes up to Rs 1.90 lakh, ex-Chennai. Bikes have started reaching showrooms and the latter are accepting bookings as well. There are three variants – Fireball, Stellar and SuperNova. They differ a bit in the way each one looks and SuperNova has got the maximum features. Of course, you can change the way your bike looks, legally, by using RE’s Make It Yours modification accessories process. In addition to the seven standard colourways, under three editions, MiY allows opens up an additional eight colourway options for customers.
What’s new in the 2021 Royal Enfield Meteor?
If you look at the bike, it more or less seems derived from the Thunderbird X. However, appearances are deceptive. The bike is based on a new lightweight “J” platform. This platform, in the near future, will underpin several other bikes. The motorcycle boasts LED rings on the headlamp cluster but the inside it is a halogen cluster. The handlebars are not pulled back like the Thunderbird and offer more leverage. A 19-inch CEAT front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels have been provided. You find the same chiselled tank from the Thunderbird X. Of interest should be the part LCD instrument cluster with a twin pod arrangement.
The smaller pod houses your date and time. However, when you pair the on-board Bluetooth with your mobile phone, through the RE app, the Tripper comes to the fore. It brings in dedicated turn-by-turn navigation. The bigger console has the required information but misses on a tacho. You will also see the new switchgear which is much more like a retro themed circular unit. Might take time getting used to for sure.
The engine is a 349cc unit that pumps out 20.2PS of power and 27Nm from its air-oil cooled heart. RE has given a 5-speed gearbox with this engine. 41mm front forks and twin-tube, 6-step preload adjustable rear shockers have been given. There are disc brakes at both ends with non-switchable dual-channel ABS. The bike weighs 191kg. The 2021 Royal Enfield Meteor competitors include the Jawa 42, Benelli Imperiale 400 as well as the Mahindra Mojo. This bike is cheaper than the rest of its competition. Lest we forget, there is also the new Honda CB350 H’ness as well.
