The new Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV is something that the company is banking on. After the Corolla as well as the Livo/Etios were discontinued, there is only one sub-Rs 10 lakh product – the Glanza. Toyota India will add another one and nonetheless an SUV here – the Urban Cruiser. The 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser bookings will start from August 22. One can book it from the Toyota website or through an authorised dealership. The booking amount is Rs 11,000. With this announcement, Toyota has also revealed a few additional details about the Urban Cruiser. This includes the general equipment levels, the availability of standard features and so on. It has also revealed the engine bits though not the exact power configuration. Our dealer sources have just go hold on the brochure of the car and we will provide you with a tad more information on the same.
2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser specs, features
The 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV has a two-slat chrome grille, typical to the design elements from the Jap company. Toyota boffins though decided to retain the all-LED setup of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. This ensures that the car gets its fair share of attractive elements including LED fog lights. There is the new design 16-inch diamond cut alloys while the tail lights too are LED in nature. A new colour palette in brown will also be offered along with a Creta-like orange and dual-tone options.
Inside, there is dual-tone upholstery, while automatic climate control is standard. The steering wheel will also be a multi-functional unit. Other features include an electrochromic mirror, cooled-glovebox, MID with different colours…There is also the Smart Playcast infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities. A push button start too is standard while rain sensing wipers as well as auto headlights will be available on top variants.
As far as the engine is concerned, like the Brezza, even the 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser will boast a 1.5-litre motor. The engine will be available with a mild hybrid but only in the automatic guise. The engine produces 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. A 4-speed torque converter is paired with this engine while a 5-speed manual too will be available. Toyota offers a warranty of one lakh kilometres or three years, whichever is earlier. In contrast, one gets a two-year or 40,000km warranty with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol.
The launch of the Urban Cruiser could be sometime in the first half of September 2020. We believe the 2020 Toyota Urban Cruiser price in India to start from Rs 8.2 lakh, ex-showroom.
