2020 Hyundai Creta spotted testing in India

Ever since the Kia Selto on an all-new platform made its debut in the Indian market earlier this year, we knew a Hyundai version is also on its way. Hyundai India will be debuting this model here in the first half of 2020. The 2020 Hyundai Creta has now been spotted testing in India. This new Creta will have enviable features, perhaps a tad less than that of te Seltos but still comparable.

What are the changes in the 2020 Hyundai Creta?

A few months ago, the new Hyundai ix25 too was unveiled globally. The entire silhouette as well as the design of the 2020 Hyundai Creta is inspired from this model. Hyundai has also ensured that there are subtle changes. For example, the grille is a bit different and there are unique LED headlights with a split theme. Overall, this Creta looks far more stylish. One can also see a new alloy wheel pattern and a panoramic sunroof. The rear looks like it has got a thin strip LED light. Hyundai will alsp provide pedestrian protection compliant bumpers.

In the cabin you will see a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system complete with Apple and Android mirroring capabilities. Also on offer will be the new steering wheel, digital instrument display, powered seat, wireless phone charging, air purifier, BlueLink and more. Hyundai will increase the wheelbase – expect a more spacious cabin and generous boot space.

The engine menu will be the same as that of the Seltos. Whether Hyundai offers them in the same state of tune or a bit lower is debatable. The engines include a 1.4-litre turbo petrol that makes 140PS/242Nm, a 1.5-litre NA petrol that is good for 115PS/144Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel that makes 115PS/250Nm. All these will be in BS-VI tune and with the regular 6-speed manual, will also have a host of auto options.

Needless to say, the new Hyundai Creta will go up against the Kia Selto, Tata Harrier and MG Hector. While it will initially be a 5-seater, we have heard that a 7-seater is being planned too. The 2020 Hyundai Creta price in India should start from around Rs 10.00 lakh and going all the way to Rs 16 lakh, ex-showroom.
