Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated Ignis in India. The 2019 Maruti Ignis price in India starts from Rs 4.79 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 7.14 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. This price is Rs 12,000 more than the outgoing version. There is no change to the basic design though but in terms of features, there are a few additions. Dealers had already started taking bookings of the 2019 Maruti Ignis, however deliveries will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
Tell me what’s new in the 2019 Maruti Ignis
If you’re booking the Alpha or Zeta trims, you will now get roof rails to go with the mini-SUV look of the Ignis. Part of the standard fare includes reverse parking sensors, front co-passenger seatbelt warning as well as a speed alert system. The 2019 Maruti Ignis carries forward the other standard features from the older car. This includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat tethers and seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters.
While it has been sometime now, the Ignis doesn’t come with a diesel engine anymore. It is being said that there was a low demand for the same and hence it was discontinued. Nonetheless, the petrol engine is still available. The 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine is shared with the Baleno and produces 83PS and 114Nm. This engine can be ordered either with a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The claimed fuel efficiency of the 2019 Ignis is 20.89kmpl, the same as before.
With the Ignis, Maruti Suzuki was all set to take on the micro SUV segment which was started by the KUV100. However, sales for both the competitors didn’t exactly take off the way the company wanted. The KUV100 can now be seen doing taxi duties while the Ignis goes with huge discounts and sans a diesel option. It will be interesting to see the sales numbers now. P
