Lexus has launched the all-new seventh generation 2018 Lexus ES 300h in India for Rs 59.13 lakh, ex-showroom pan India. While the pricing may seem premium at first glance, it may be noted that the vehicle is almost Rs 40,000 more affordable than before. Bookings have already started with deliveries to start in the next couple of months.
Lexus had showcased the new ES 300h earlier this year at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. The Lexus ES 300h sedan uses a new GA-K architecture. The upcoming new Toyota Camry is also expected to be based on this architecture. The car sits lower and has that distinctive look to it with the slim L-shaped headlights. There are new alloy wheels while the tail light too has been altered significantly.
The cabin of the new Lexus ES 300h has been throughly revised. Space and comfort have taken even more precedence with the front passenger now getting more legroom thanks to the driver-centric placement of the infotainment system. The front seats are heated and feature electric adjustment. There is a colour adjustable head-up display and 7-inch LCD instrument cluster. The 12.3-inch Electro Multi Vision infotainment showcases the navigation menu as well as the 17 speaker Mark and Levinson system.
Rear seat passengers can recline their seat and at the same time have additional leg room thanks to the new extended wheelbase. Boot space stays at 440 litres.
Lexus uses the tried and tested 2.5-litre hybrid petrol engine with the new ES 300h. However, the hybrid system is all-new and the engine has been updated to be Euro-VI compliant. 215PS of power is available and Lexus claims that the ES will return 22.37kmpl fuel efficiency.
In terms of safety, there are 10 airbags, tilt sensors, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Control and ABS.
