Audi India, in accordance with its policy of launching more petrol engined cars, has launched the Q5 45 TFSI petrol at Rs 55.27 lakh, ex-Delhi. There are two trims and apart from the aforementioned Premium Plus, there is also the Technology that retails for Rs 59.79 lakh, ex-showroom, pan-India. These trims join the Q5 diesel which was launched a few months ago and is priced exactly the same as its petrol cousin.
The Audi Q5 petrol uses the same petrol engine from the bigger Q7 – a 2.0-litre turbo petrol that makes 252PS and 370Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Audi claims that the Q5 petrol is their most powerful and fastest iteration of the SUV launched in India and suitably so, the 0-100kmph number is done in 6.3s with an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 12.4kmpl. The 237kmph attaining Audi Q5 petrol also gets Quattro which sends power to all the four wheels depending on the terrain and the requirement.
It looks similar to the diesel Q5 and looks sharper than before with those all-LED lights. The rear of the car though feels a tad compact making it look smaller than it is. Needless to say, the build quality is top notch and those who have seen the bigger Q7 will notice the same interior layout with a 12.3-inch TFT console nestled between the meters. This is called a virtual cockpit and gives out information in a lucid and easy-to-understand format. It will also show you the navigation map right in the line of the driver’s sight. The infotainment system is the same MMI unit and it support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay when the USB is plugged in. Audi also offers the wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control with AC vents at the rear and a 534 litre boot that can be opened and closed electronically.
The new Audi Q5 petrol will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, BMW X3 30i and the Lexus NX300h.
