All-new Hyundai Santro design

All-new Hyundai Santro
The new Hyundai Santro has a wide cascading grille and there are Grand i10-like headlights flanking it. The fog lamps surprisingly are placed a tad higher up. There are no LED DRLs and Hyundai is not offering projector headlamps as well. So, both the fog and headlight units are halogen. The Hyundai logo too has moved on to the bonnet rather than being on the grille. 14-inch wheels are on offer but the top end Asta trim only has wheel caps. The rear is similar to what we have seen on Grand i10 and the frameless windshield adds a bit of flair. There is also a rear wiper on offer.

All-new Hyundai Santro interior

The cabin of the all-new Hyundai Santro is as modern as things in the compact hatchback get. Open the doors and you will notice that the ingress and egress is quite good.  There is a 7.0-inch touchscreen system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay as well as Mirror Link. There are steering mounted audio controls too, a segment first. One can expect good all around visibility too, even from the rear glass. The mirrors too look like they have decent visibility. Overall, then a good option for learners or first time car buyers. The new Santro is 3,610mm long, 1,645mm wide and 1,560mm tall. It has a 2,400mm wheelbase.

The upholstery of the all-new Hyundai Santro is done in beige and black colour. This ensures a cheerful and airy mood in the cabin. Hyundai hasn’t got automatic climate control for the AC but there are rear AC vents on offer. All four power window switches are placed right behind the gear lever. The meter dials are simple looking units.

In terms of space, the all-new Hyundai Santro boasts class leading dimensions. At least that’s what the images show us.

Safety in the all-new Hyundai Santro

A driver airbag is standard across range while a passenger unit is available only on the Asta trim. ABS with EBD though is standard across range. A reverse camera with parking sensors is also on offer on the Asta trim.

Engine and transmission of the all-new Hyundai Santro

Hyundai has brought in a bit of nostalgia by bringing in the 1.1-litre Epsilon unit in the all-new Santro. The engine is a 4-cylinder unit and produces 69PS of power and 99Nm of torque. One can option it with a 5-speed manual or an AMT unit. The latter is developed in-house by Hyundai and is said to be one of the best iterations of an AMT. The claimed fuel efficiency is 20.3kmpl. Should you be interested, Hyundai is also offering a factory-fitted CNG unit. This one though brings the power down to 59PS. The claimed average of the all-new Hyundai Santro with CNG is 30.4km/kg and the tank can hold 8kg.
