Tata has set a Harrier amongst the pigeons. Literally! The Tata Harrier price in India of Rs 12.6 lakh, ex-showroom is lower than many expected. The top-spec model will retail for Rs 18 lakh, on-road. This for a vehicle that has Land Rover architecture underneath coupled with a Jeep engine and transmission is brilliant. The variant spread as well as feature list is generous too. However, in the premium SUV category that the Harrier operates in, there is also the day old Nissan Kicks. While the Harrier gets only a diesel engine, the Kicks also has a petrol option.
The Kicks also brings in an around view monitor, something which we have seen only in 30 lakh plus vehicles.
The Jeep Compass has been receiving rave reviews since launch. After all, everyone wants to own a piece of the new Jeep. It has got the muscle, all-wheel drive capability as well as many features. When the Compass was first launched, it created a furore primarily because of the pricing. However, the Jeep Compass came out because there was competition and it is in the form of a formidable foe, the Hyundai Creta. Now, we all know that ever since 2015, the compact luxury SUV segment in India has been disrupted by an avalanche called the Creta. The Hyundai Creta is the alpha when it comes to the segment. It has got a refresh earlier last year and now it has become even more desirable. it offers everything that the others here offer plus some more. Ventilated seats, wireless charging and even a sunroof.
The choice of engines that the Creta brings has also catapulted it to the top echelons. The price may be a tad higher but this is one car where you get a choice of multiple engines as well as transmissions. So, feel free to browse through the specs and let us know which one will you pick of this lot.
