It will be not be wrong to say that Maruti modelled the S-Presso on the Renault Kwid. However, these two now have to slug it out in a specifications comparison. Let’s talk about the new kid on the block first. The Renault Kwid is based on a new platform, though the same has been carried forward with the facelift. This new Renault Kwid, let’s be honest here, looks like a much bigger car than it is. Moreover, the new styling has enhanced the appeal. Separate DRLs flanked by headlights at the bottom are what mid-size SUVs do in terms of design. The rear has got LED elements in the lights. As with the old car, even the new Kwid has got plastic cladding all around.
As far as the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is concerned, the model is a mix and mash of the Mahindra KUV100 as well as there are certain Brezza elements in there too. This being said, the public opinion is that the S-Presso looks like a tin can. This being said, Maruti has given the car a BS-VI compliant motor. Features-wise, the S-Presso lacks behind to the Renault, with the Kwid offering rear power windows. The S-Presso claws back lost ground by offering internally adjustable (manual) wing mirrors. Both models offer a touchscreen infotainment system as well as fully digital instrument cluster. The Kwid’s though is easier to check as it is mounted behind the steering wheel, with the Maruti’s being a centrally located unit.
Out of the two, you get updated engine technology with the Maruti and service costs will also be a tad lower. The Kwid gets a four year warranty and proven mechanicals. It is the more affordable of the two plus also has the tasty Climber trim. Go, have a look at the specs below and let us know what you think.
