Maruti Suzuki XL6 vs Honda BR-V spec comparison

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is quite a premium vehicle. We saw it at various showrooms and like the way it looks as well. There is a certain distinction from the Ertiga as well and that is a nice thing. Maruti aims to sell around 1,000 units of the XL6 each month and it doesn’t seem like a far fetched idea. The only thing that may hinder its prospect is the fact that there is no diesel engine or neither is there a CNG option. In fact, given the showroom that it will retail out of, Nexa, it is not surprising that an alternate fuel option hasnt been provided. The Ertiga recently got a CNG option and cab operators as well as those having easy access to the fuel are thrilled. Nonetheless, the XL6 comes with a 105PS/138Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is paired with a mild hybrid system. The latter enhances the fuel efficiency and bumps it to 19kmpl with a 5-speed manual. Drive the XL6 in town and you will be happy with the minimum gear changes as well as torque assist function. The 6-seater promises good space for all occupants as well as for the interior feels a bit better than that of the Ertiga.

So, what could possibly be a competition for the XL6? There literally is no 6-seater available in this range and Maruti had cleverly thought of this. However, one tends to forget the underrated Honda BR-V. The BR-V looks a bit more macho but overall both the XL6 and the Honda try their best to look like SUVs. The BR-V also boasts an additional seat and that’s always welcome, isnt it? While space in the BR-V is good, what’s appreciable is that it also comes with petrol and diesel engines. Former gets a CVT option as well while 6-speed manuals are standard in both. Honda’s 100PS/200Nm diesel is famous for its chugging capability as well as mileage. The petrol, as we know, is good for mileage and its driving pleasure. So there, you have it. For an additional two lakh, you get a slightly bigger car, a 6-speed gearbox and an extra seat. But, will you pay that premium?
