Hyundai Grand i10 Nios vs Renault Triber vs Maruti Suzuki Swift

There were talks that the new Renault Triber is going to take on the Grand i10 and Swift. The latter two are popular hatchbacks and Renault was looking to offer a proper 7-seater at the price or now as we know, undercutting them. The Renault Triber, let’s talk about it briefly. It is based on the modified platform of the Kwid. It is a sub-4m vehicle and has got an uprated engine than what is offered in the Kwid. The motor produces 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque. At the moment, it is paired to a 5-speed manual. However, we hear that an automatic is in the offing with the BS-VI compliant engine version. Speaking of which, the Renault is the only here that doesn’t have a BS-VI engine. Both the Hyundai and Maruti have already been updated to meet the upcoming norms. Moreover, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is a new car. It is built on a new frame and boasts better space than before. Hyundai too has got the engines right. Moreover, there is also an AMT with the petrol and diesel engines.

If you talk of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, it is an icon. Even in its third generation, the car is nothing less than being hot property. It is also the first time that Maruti is offering discounts worth Rs 70,000 on the Swift. It is because of the economic slowdown. However, that doesn’t take away the fact that the Swift is one good car to drive and own. It has also got petrol as well as diesel engines with a similar gearbox combos as the Grand i10 Nios. That being said, the Swift is the costliest of the lot but promises Maruti maintenance. It also has a better resale value.

Of the three, if an extra pair of seats is needed, we will choose the Triber. If not, either of the two hatchbacks should suit your requirement.
