With the new Honda City out, it is but a battle time between it and the others in the segment. The new Honda City has got a panache but mostly will be dismissed for being too close-looking to the older car. Fun fact. Our chief photographer pinged on the group asking which one is the new City. He is generally considered to be good identifying cars as it is. This apart, Honda has kitted the new City generously. There is the Alexa-run telematics, connected car tech, sunroof, Agile Handling Assist, and Lane Watch. On the face of it, the petrol and diesel engines too are carried over from the old Honda City. It though must be reminded that for all this technology, one has to pay through the nose for the Honda City.
The other car here is the Hyundai Verna. It is also a facelift of the previous model but brings in all-new engine and transmission line-up. The new Hyundai Verna has got electrically adjustable driver’s seat, front cooled seats, wireless phone charger, sunroof, air purifier and much more. Needless to say, it is also a connected car and boasts three petrol/diesel engines. Based on price, we have compared the top-end Hyundai Verna turbo with a dual-clutch transmission and the Honda City with CVT.
It is clear. If you want to be chauffeur-driven, there is nothing better than the City. It has more space at the back. Even if you enjoy driving, the City is the one for you. The Verna is for those who like a feature-rich car that will pamper them to the hilt. Don’t forget. The City is claimed to be the safer car amongst the two.
While it looks like the City is the outright winner, we suggest you wait a bit. The asking price is high. Knowing Honda, in a couple of months there will be discounts on offer. Buy it then. If you’re in a hurry, the Hyundai Verna will be all the car you will ever need.
