We welcome the BS-VI version of the Honda Activa 125. It was launched a few days ago and boasts many new features apart from the future-ready engine. The price was Rs 7,000 over that of the regular 125 model. The latter will continue to sell much like the Unicorn 160 and 150 did. Honda has also given a side-stand engine inhibitor, semi-digital instrument cluster, noiseless start system as well as LED lights. The mammoth six year warranty too is an icing on the cake. The scooter will be in showrooms from the first day of Navratri. However, given its high pricing, will there be takers? There could be given that the Aprilia, one of the priciest scooters in the country today still manages to register respectable sales numbers.
The highest selling 125cc scooter in India, the Access 125 remains relatively untouched with all these developments. Its safe styling, high quality as well as good performance ensure that the scooter remains the crowd favourite. Suzuki plays on its fuel efficiency too. The Access 125 has got a stylish cousin – the Burgman 125. It is comfortably priced lower than the Activa as well but now is a bit dated compared to the newer Honda. The warranty period of two years too isn’t a patch on the Activa’s. So, out of the Access or Activa 125, which one should you buy? Have a dekko at the specs below and choose your pick.
