With two new BS6 160cc bikes launched recently, it was but natural that we pit them against each other. The Hero Xtreme 160R is an all-new bike while the Honda X-Blade can be called the older one in this competition. Hero has invested a bit of money developing this new chassis as well as all-new engine. The Hero Xtreme 160R price in India is also quite competitive, below Rs 1 lakh for the base variant. However, when it comes to pricing, the Honda X-Blade BS6 isn’t the most cost effective as it has got a Rs 17,000 increase over the BS4. Honda is offering a kill switch and silent starter system with the bike. Common things include the size of tyres, presence of an optional rear disc brake and all-digital instrument cluster. There is also the all-LED headlight.
HMSI has the upper hand with respect to the warranty as one can opt for a six-year term. Hero gives five year standard warranty on its products. As far as service centres are concerned, Honda wins our vote as Hero is yet to catch up in this department for premium bikes. All-in-all, taking into all factors, the Hero Xtreme 160R is what we will place our bets on.
