Tata will soon roll out its new hatchback. Called Tata Altroz hatchback, the vehicle was displayed to the public at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. However. Tata Motors is yet to launch the car here. It now seems that the launch is imminent. The Altroz’ interior has been leaked from a promotional video. Not only this, the leaked video also says that bookings have started. However, we checked with a few dealers and they confirmed that bookings haven’t started yet. It is likely that Tata will launch the Altroz in India this September with bookings starting a few weeks earlier. It is the festive season and will be the right time to bring a new car.
What does the leaked video show?
A glimpse of the exterior with its all-LED lights is visible. 16-inch alloy wheels too have been given while the doors are said to open 90 degrees.
The leaked video showcases the production version of the hatchback’s interior. It showcases a dashboard mounted infotainment system, likely an 8-inch unit. This unit has Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto capabilities. Plus, it will also house the reverse parking camera display and has ambient light settings.
Tata will likely go with an 8-speaker Harman music system to give the Altroz an edge over its rivals in the sound department. There is some amount of AI associated with the Altroz though it is unclear at the moment. Apart from these observations, one can also see cruise control button, new flat-bottomed steering wheel while the meters are a mix of digital-analogue parts. We expected a more fancy instrument cluster but this one is slightly disappointing. As usual, the rev-counter doesn’t have a redline but the tacho needle will turn red when it approaches the peak. Tata offers the now-familiar drive modes – City, Eco and Sport.
There are mixed reports on the engine options that the Altroz will run. Few say that a diesel will not be available while others say that the Nexon’s engines will be used here. Suffice to say that the engines will likely be more powerful or at par with the competition. These engines will be paired to 6-speed manual as well as AMTs. The Tata Altroz hatchback will be the first in the company’s hatchback fold to offer six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD and more safety features on the top trim. Lower trims will get dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and front seat belt reminders. The Altroz will comply with the upcoming Indian crash norms too.
