Mahindra has finally launched an automatic variant of its newly launched XUV300. The Mahindra XUV300 diesel AMT features autoSHIFT technology. The AMT is only offered with diesel engine in the top trims W8 and W8 (O) and priced at Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 12.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The AMT is Rs 55,000 costlier than the respective manual variants.
The Mahindra XUV300 diesel AMT will be offered in three colours, Pearl White, Aquamarine and Red Rage and is available for display and deliveries immediately across all Mahindra dealerships. Talking about the gearbox, the autoSHIFT technology of the AMT is engineered by Italian automotive experts Marelli and comes with auto and manual driving modes.
The gearbox comes with vehicle creep function that allows the SUV to move slowly without pressing the throttle in the first and reverse gears, a convenience to have in stop and go city traffic. For extra safety, the creep function does not work when the doors are open. Another safety feature in the gearbox is the Drive and Reverse lock out which prevents direct shift into the reverse gear from drive mode if the forward speed is above 5kmph.
Mahindra has priced the XUV300 AMT a bit higher compared to its direct competitors in the segment. For example, the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT is priced between Rs 8.69 lakh and Rs 10.42 lakh. The Tata Nexon AMT on the other hand, comes at Rs 7.94 lakh to Rs 11.01 lakh and available in both petrol and diesel variants (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). So is it worth the premium amount? Only a real-life comparison could tell.
Where is the petrol Mahindra XUV300 AMT, you may ask? Well, based on demand the vehicle should be in the market soon. Mahindra sees a surge in demand for the XUV300 diesel automatic and hence the push.
