The Mahindra Thar is at the end of its life in India. Introduced in 2007, the model last got an update in 2010. A month ago, ABS too was introduced. However, it is strange that this was limited only to the CRDe units. Speaking of limited, there was a news recently that Mahindra will be giving a send-off to the Thar with a Signature Edition. The Mahindra Thar Signature Edition price in India has now been leaked. A source says that the vehicle will most likely be sold at the same price as the DI 4×4 model; Rs 7.12 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai. Only 700 units will be made and bookings should start in a few days.
What’s new in the Mahindra Thar Signature Edition?
Mostly cosmetic changes. The Signature name comes in the form of Anand Mahindra’s autograph on the car. Other changes include two new exterior colour options – Napoli Black and Aquamarine Blue. Mahindra has also added. The black grille, front and rear number plate holder is done in silver, 5-spoke alloy wheels, bonnet decals and leatherette upholstery with the Thar branding are also part of the package. This limited edition vehicle is also internally known as the Thar 700.
There are no changes in the 2.5-litre turbocharged CRDe diesel engine. The engine makes 105PS/247Nm and a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine will make way for an all-new unit in the 2020 Thar. Yes, the Thar is set to get a generation change. The new SUV is already in the testing phase and has been spotted on multiple occasions. It is set to get a plusher cabin as well as more refined on-road dynamics. Safety too will be paramount and dual airbags and ABS to be standard. What’s more, it will also meet the BSNVAP norms as well.
Expect Mahindra to officially announce the price of the new Thar Signature Edition soon.
