If there is one luxury car manufacturer who is churning out new or revised models day in and day out in the Indian market, it has got to be Jaguar Land Rover. The Tata Motors owned company has now introduced the very desirable F-Type in India with a smaller 2.0-litre Ingenium engine. This lower capacity petrol engine enables the Jaguar F-Type to have a more accessible entry level pricing – Rs 90.93 lakh for the coupe and Rs 1.01 crore for the convertible.
If you though that the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine means measly power numbers, you’re wrong. The turbocharged mill makes 300PS of power and 400Nm of torque. JLR says that due to its light weight nature, they were able to shave off 52kg from the overall weight of the F-Type, thus aiding its dynamic capabilities. Naturally the fuel efficiency too has gone up in the process. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and JLR claims a 0-100kmph time of 5.7s. The top speed is 250kmph. Jaguar has added an active exhaust that brings in the tail pipe note into the cabin for enhanced aural pleasure. The company also claims that with this entry-level offering, they were able to achieve an even finer balance of handling and steering response.
Jaguar currently has 27 authorised dealers in India and one can book the entry-level F-Type from all of them. Deliveries start in a month’s time. Competition for the entry-level Jaguar F-Type comes in the form of Porsche 911 Cayman and Boxster models.
