Hyundai India has finally launched its much awaited compact SUV. The Hyundai Venue SUV has been in concept stage from as early as 2016 and is one of the single most awaited products from the Korean maker in recent times. The Hyundai Venue SUV price in India starts from Rs 6.5 lakh and go all the way to Rs 11.1 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
As far as colours are concerned, the Venue comes in single as well as dual tone options. These include Deep Forest, Fiery Red, Stardust, Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Lava Orange and Denim Blue. The Denim Blue as well as Deep Forest colours are new to the Hyundai range of cars though the 2008 Verna used to be offered for sometime in the Blue colour. Bookings for the Venue SUV were being taken online for Rs 21,000. However, those have now been closed with customers being promised an early delivery. Now, you can go to a showroom and book the SUV.
Hyundai Venue SUV variants
The Venue is being offered in E, S, SX and SX (O) variants. The E is obviously the base trim and comes with a 1.2-litre petrol as well as 1.4 diesel. Feature list includes tilt adjustable steering, adjustable front head rests, 12V power socket in the front, manual airconditioner as well as front power windows. It will also get 15-inch steel wheels. Hyundai is offering dual airbags, ABS with EBD, speed sensing door locks, front seatbelt reminder as well as rear parking sensors with this trim. The boot space at 350 litres is standard.
The S builds on the features offered in the E. It gets wheel caps, body coloured ORVMs, chrome grille, roof rails and keyless entry. Rear power windows, rear AC vents, USB as well as Bluetooth-equipped music system, rear parcel tray and more. This trim can be availed in the aforementioned engine trims as well as a new 1.0-litre turbo petrol as well. The latter will be offered both in a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch transmissions. This is also the highest trim that one can buy the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine with.
The SX brings in 16-inch alloys, automatic headlamps with LED DRLs, turn indicators on ORVMs, projector fog lamps, door request sensors on both sides, rear wiper and washer, electrically adjustable ORVMs, 8-inch infotainment system tuned Arkamys and cruise control. Dual tone finish vehicles also get leather seats.
SX (O) has always been the top dog in the line-up and stays so this time as well. You get additional four airbags, electronic stability control, emergency brake assist, CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger and an engine start-stop button.
You spoke about the engines briefly. Can you elaborate?
The 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel are the same units from the Elite i20. The petrol makes 83PS/116Nm, 17.52kmpl and can be availed with a 5-speed MT while the diesel produces 90PS/220Nm, 23.7kmpl and is available with a 6-speed MT. A 1.0-litre turbo petrol is the new addition to the Hyundai India family. It makes 120PS/172Nm. A 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT is available with this engine. This engine lays claims to 18.16kmpl fuel efficiency.
