Renault India will launch the new Triber on August 28, 2019. Yes, that’s the date when this compact people mover will go on sale. This Renault will be sold in a sole petrol variant with likely four trims. It is likely that the bookings will begin in a few days from now. Renault India is pinning their hopes on this one. The Renault Triber price in India is expected to start from Rs 4.15 lakh and go all the way to Rs 5.8 lakh, ex-showroom. This makes it slightly more expensive than its Datsun cousin, the Go+.
Give me more details of this Renault
Things worth knowing are already out in the public. The Renault Triber measures 3,990mm in length, 1,739mm in width and 1,643mm in height. Its sub-4m frame should give it the tax benefits. However, on closer inspection, you also notice the 2,636mm wheelbase as well as the seven seats. The Triber looks fresh too unlike the Go+ that mimics the Go’s design theme. There are projector headlights, LED DRLs, 15-inch alloys, roof rails than can carry 50kg load as well as LED tail lights. Inside, you also see the new digital instrument cluster that seems a bit hard to read and understand on the move. Along with this, you get an 8.0-inch touchscreen Carplay and Android Auto, cooled centre box, four airbags, push button start, rear camera, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors. The boot space is 625 litres with the last row seats removed. Yes, like the Lodgy one can also remove the rear seats of this MPV and stow them away.
Triber engine and transmission
An updated version of the Kwid’s naturally aspirated 1.0-litre engine is used here. The 1.0-litre petrol engine makes 72PS AND 96Nm. A 5-speed manual or AMT can be optioned with this engine. Expect a mileage of close to 20kmpl. We believe the AMT will take a chunk of the sales. Renault AMTs are good.
The 182mm ground clearance should give this Renault decent lift when it is fully loaded. The ride quality too should be good as Renaults are known to be. Handling wise, we believe there could be a bit of body roll but that’s expected and this ain’t no Audi RS7.
