With the new safety norms coming in to effect from April 2019, many manufacturers either has to hurry up their efforts or stop making products which didn’t comply. Datsun, joined the party a bit late. It’s most affordable offering, the redi-Go has now been relaunched with the essential safety features. This also means a price hike of Rs 30,000. The Datsun redi-Go now is priced between Rs 2.79 lakh – Rs 4.37 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
What’s new in the Datsun redi-Go?
Design-wise, not much. It still looks the same model from 2016. What you get for the additional Rs 30,000 is a driver airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, driver as well as front co-passenger seat belt reminder and a speed alert warning. Unfortunately, a passenger airbag isn’t even part of the optional list.
The Datsun redi-Go has a 800cc motor that produces 54PS of power and 72Nm of torque. There is also a bigger 1.0-litre engine that makes 68PS and 91Nm of power and torque respectively. Both the engines can be ordered with a 5-speed manual, however the latter can also be had with an AMT. Datsun claims a mileage of 22.7kmpl and 22.5kmpl respectively from the 800 and 1.0-litre manual variants. The AMT version is slightly more efficient at 23kmpl. All these engines are still BS-IV compliant.
The Datsun redi-Go competes with the Maruti Alto 800/K10. It also comes with a Datsun Care that ensures complete coverage of parts and labor for periodic maintenance. Extended warranty as well as 24×7 roadside assistance too are available with this package.
